If you are the first in your family to go to college, then you are also the first in your family to graduate from college. Congratulations! We want to recognize your accomplishment with your family in a way that centers both of you in the experience. What distinguishes the First Cats Graduation from other graduation and convocation ceremonies on campus is the way that students and their family (given and/or chosen) are incorporated in the ceremony.
When you are recognized individually, you will be called by name to have your chosen person place the First Cats Alumni pin on you while a message of your choosing is displayed for attendees. The short program of speakers will also focus on the first-gen experience and hopefully help you and your guests prepare for a week of ceremonies and celebrations by explaining the history and symbolism behind UA graduation and university graduations in general.
Graduates of any level (bachelor, master, or doctoral) completing their degree in Spring 2019, Summer 2019, or Fall 2019 terms are encouraged to participate.
So join us on May 5 in the beautiful new Health Sciences Innovation Building Forum (this is one of the first events in the new space!). Free surface parking is available just across the street on the corner of Mabel and Cherry.
