Participation in PASS provides students with three primary resources:
- Six One-on-One Meetings with a Peer Mentor
- Six Online Workshops & Written Reflections
- One Mid-Semester Grade Check
One-on-One Meetings with a Peer Mentor
Note: PASS Peer Mentors are not Academic Advisors
- Students will meet with the same Peer Mentor on a bi-weekly basis (every other week) in the lower level of the Nugent building. One-on-one meetings generally last 30-60 minutes.
- Students will discuss workshop content, goals, needs, concerns, and appropriate resources with their Peer Mentor.
- Peer Mentors will help students develop individual plans to address barriers and challenges and to achieve their goals.
- Peer Mentors will ask for grade updates and help calculate students’ current grades.
6-Week Workshop Series & Written Reflections
- PASS workshop topics include Goal Setting & Motivation, Time & Stress Management, Learning Styles, Study Skills & Test Preparation, Communicating with Instructors, and Communicating with Advisors.
- Workshop content, handouts and reflections are all submitted via D2L.
- Each workshop includes a video lecture, an accompanying handout to be filled out during or after watching the video, and a reflection.
- Students have 8 days to complete each Workshop. Reflections are due on Sundays at 11:59 PM.
Mid-Semester Progress Check (Midterm Madness)
- Students calculate current grades and obtain faculty signatures to confirm their grades in all courses.
- This update provides students the opportunity to discuss what their end of semester priorities should be and how their final grades may impact their academic standing at UA.
